Bicycle are everywhere, and they have been specializing in various different types and styles. Mountain bikes, and those just used for rides in the park are not the only ones out there. There are bicycles for doing tricks, bicycles for doing jobs, long-distance travel and those for just enjoying a family outing. In this article you will learn about the different types of bicycles, for just about any occasion.
If you're looking for an adventure, the mountain bike is one of the best. Mountain bikes are particularly large, and normally go up to twelve speeds with a single chainring in the front. These are made to endure the rough ground in the mountains. Sometimes you might just want to take them on trails in your park but most often, you will ride them in dedicated mountain bike trails, where the challenges are many. Some bikes are even good in the snow; the fatter tires of the fatbikes can endure almost any type of ground.
Road bikes are an other very popular type of bicycles. They are made of lighter materials with skinny tires made for eating miles after miles. Their riding position is aerodynamic and some models will allow to install racks for carrying gears. Road bikes are a great way to go fast - or go far, or just to do your daily commute. Road bikes are amongst the most confortable and energy efficient of them all. Great machinery.
The Hybrid bicycle is also a great bicycle. The Hybrid is a cross between the mountain bike and road bicycle; they handle rough ground like the mountain bicycle, but are a very comfortable bicycle. They are also made to handle long distance riding. Sometimes they are referred to as All-Terrain bicycles or Comfort Bicycles, and they are good for all ages.
Some bikes are designed for the only purpose of doing tricks. It's the case for BMX, trial and dirt jump bikes, which are usually found at skateparks or other style of man-made courses.
The electric bikes are becoming more and more popular. They are great for older people, but not only! More and more people are using some sort of electric assistance in all types of bicycles, from road, to mountain, and everything in-between. They are great for riding longger distance or at faster speed, or just to keep up with stronger-riding friends.
Although the tricycle is normally made for the younger bicycle riders, they are also used in other ways, they may also be called cargo-bikes. There is in fact an adult tricycle; they are normally just used for recreational activities such as tours. But in some professions, tricycles are used, for carrying equipment in a large factory, for example. The tricycle is a good bicycle for the older and younger riders.
